What is Enzalutamide?

Enzalutamide is a prescription medication used to treat prostate cancer in men who have undergone surgery or hormone therapy to lower testosterone levels. It is particularly utilized in the following scenarios:

• When the cancer no longer responds to treatment but has not spread to other parts of the body.
• When the cancer has responded to treatment and has metastasized, meaning it has spread to other parts of the body.

It is important to note that the safety and efficacy of enzalutamide in children or females have not been established.

Warnings

Although enzalutamide is not intended for use by women, it can cause birth defects if either parent is taking this medicine. To prevent pregnancy:

• Use a condom and one other form of birth control while taking enzalutamide.
• Continue using birth control for at least 3 months after your last dose.

Before Taking This Medicine

Do not use enzalutamide if you are allergic to it. Furthermore, inform your doctor of any medical history that may affect the safety of using enzalutamide, such as:

• Seizures
• Head injury, stroke, or brain tumor
• Heart disease or circulation problems
• High blood pressure
• Diabetes
• High cholesterol or triglycerides (a type of fat in the blood)

Pregnancy and Birth Control

Enzalutamide can harm an unborn baby or cause birth defects, even if the father is taking this medicine. If your sex partner is pregnant, always use a condom during intercourse. If your sex partner can become pregnant, use effective birth control to avoid pregnancy. Continue using birth control for at least 3 months after you stop taking enzalutamide. Notify your doctor immediately if a pregnancy occurs while taking this medicine.

Women who are breastfeeding should not take enzalutamide.
